About Jeniesa
Hello! I'm Je’Niesa, and I hold a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from Morehouse School of Medicine, along with a graduation accolade from Spelman College. Tutoring has been my passion since high school, beginning with helping students at my local community college. Over the past 6+ years, I’ve developed an effective and adaptable teaching approach with a clear focus on each student’s personal goals.
My tutoring experience spans students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. One of the most fulfilling parts of this work is getting to know each student individually and tailoring my methods to match their unique strengths, challenges, and learning preferences.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in patience, understanding, and personalized learning. I believe every student deserves support that meets them exactly where they are. Whether we’re tackling complex math problems, exploring scientific concepts, or enhancing reading and writing skills, my goal is to guide students with clear explanations, encouragement, and consistency.
I pride myself on creating a positive and empowering learning environment. Through patience, continuous effort, and adaptability, I’ve seen students make remarkable progress and achieve their academic goals. I truly enjoy meeting students from all backgrounds and discovering the different ways they absorb information—this allows me to create creative, effective strategies that help every student gain confidence in the material.

Unofficially, I started my freshman year tutoring students in the same class I attended. Officially, I became a peer tutor at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado specializing in the subjects of college algebra, and the writing process ( brainstorming, structure, grammar, etc)
I have a strong background in your basic maths, science, and English courses. Since high school, I have been taking college-level courses and since junior year, I have been officially tutoring community college students. Once I graduated high school I continued tutoring students up to precalculus for math at Spelman, and am currently biology designated instructor at the school.

I start with the student ( and parent when applicable) and discuss goals, topics and learning styles. This is paired with getting a feel for the student and whee they are currently compared to their goal. From there, a schedule/plan will be created to slowly attain the desired results.
I have worked with high school and college students. Their level of math, writing, and science has varied from grade school level to college-level proficiency
Most often the teacher that is willing to be flexible with the needs of the student will trump the teacher that is only book smart.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I encourage students to take a front seat in their own education, so coming with goals helps, but just coming with a willing attitude is most important.
