About Natanya
I have been tutoring at the University of Hawaii for the past 5 semesters and has found a love for helping students grow in their understanding of mathematical concepts. I have experience tutoring from pre-algebra through Calculus II. Willing to work online or in person
Math is a passion of mine and tutoring is one aspect of it that I enjoy. Helping students come into their own understanding of various concepts is an absolute joy. I love having those "light bulb" moments when we've been working together on a topic and finally they understand it
I love math and am persuing a BA in mathematics. A friend of mine referred me to a summer tutoring position at Windward Community College and I fell in love with it.
I have been tutoring math at Windward Community College for 5 semesters ranging from remedial math to Calculus II. (75X, 82, 103, 135, 140, 241, 242)

I have worked with high school students and college students of various ages and backgrounds.
Look for someone who communicates in a way that you understand. There are many many ways to complete a math problem and if the tutor/teacher you are working with isn't able to communicate it in a way that makes sense to you, and isn't able to come up with another way to explain it, find someone else who can. Not everyone understands things the same way and not everyone communicates the same way. It's important to find someone that is well educated on the topic, but also "clicks" with you.
Some of my students have begun helping and supporting each other through their math class and I love that they have gotten to a point where most of the time they can rely on their own skills to get through their work and have been needing my assistence less and less as the semester has progressed. I love seeing them grow in their understanding and being able to communicate the concepts they're working on clearly to another student.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are you wanting to understand? What are your educational goals? Are you just trying to pass the class and get it over with or are you wanting to have a better understanding of the material? Do you need something explained to you in a different way? Does your teacher teach in a way that supports your learning style? (Personally I need things presented visually in pictures, diagrams, or text. Some people need auditory input, or a kinetic way of learning)
