I've always enjoyed helping those who wish to understand subjects and material which they struggle with. I have been a tutor for over 10 years and have two students I have helped with from grade school all the way to graduate school. I make my goal to personally get to know the student and exactly what issues they are struggling with. I have worked with 8 year olds to 50 year olds including professionals who need refreshers. I have certifications in 27 subjects through varsity tutors and am negotiable on pricing.

I also find it's important to have the parents involved and understand what is going on with open communication.

Once I understand what the student is needing, I create a lesson plan specifically targeting the goals that they wish to achieve. I then find the best way to communicate with the student to effectively teach them the material. I take whatever time is needed to ensure that goals are reached and that the student is fully comprehending the subject matter.

I have owned a small tutoring business in the past and currently have a master's in criminology and a bachelor's in criminal justice.

Additional Comment: Very helpful and stuck by my side through an extremely large amount of work, clearly understands what needs to happen or how my university is interpreting different things and able to correct his answers based on their standards. Christian... undergrad

Additional Comment: I feel so much better about finding resources and not having to use all of my valuable time reading what is not helpful to my end goal. the tips I learned from David are sooooo valuable to me. He is intuitive and picks up on the blocks that I have to succeed, in the little time available in my busy life. I feel that I can write smarter, much smarter now. Getting to know who the student is they abilities, their stuggles and working together to overcome them all

Elementary, middle, high school, undergrad, and graduate students. Also worked worked with professionals I'm their respective fields and special ed.

Find someone your comfortable with and is willing to work with what learning style works best for you. Try someone once if you don't feel comfortable then you always have the choice to move on or communicate with the tutor what the issue is. Communication is big no matter how old you may be and can be effective in every aspect of your life no matter if your 5 or 50.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What does the teacher feel are the top struggles in class. Is it not understanding the material, lack of ability to stay on track or something else. Ask them to right them in an order they think are of importance. This will help you and your tutor have a starting point to work with. No matter the struggles everyone has the ability to succeed, it's just about finding the right approach, having the confidence to know you can do it, and seeing the positive results of your efforts. ALL STUDENTS HAVE THE POWER TO SUCCEED IN THEIR ENDEAVORS AND DREAMS!!

I work with the families I work as hard as I can to make the students succeed. Typically if you pay 15 for one hour session but I allow families to pay lower costs if we create a written contract where they buy say 10 sessions. No taxes. I work with the family one on one to understand what they want and how because each family is different. Pricing is always negotiable and based on parent and student ability.
