About Sonya
I keep my classes small, so I’m able instruct on an individual basis. In my Oil/Acrylic class, everyone paints their own project at their own pace. With individual instruction at very affordable pricing.
In my watercolor class, we work on lots of subjects and techniques to improve our skills as watercolor painters.
I have a BA degree in Art from Athens State University with most of my work toward my degree occurring at the University of Southern Mississippi.

I love imparting my knowledge of art and painting that I have accumulated over my 50 years as an artist to my students in class.
I delght in their accomplishments as they grow in confidence and master their skills levels with each and every class.
I emphasize the importance of great composition, drawing and teach students necessary color mixing skills from a limited but traditional pallet.
I have a Bachelors degree in art and over 50 years of experience as a painter and artist. I have been instructing since 2012.
My paintings have won local and regional awards, as well as been featured in area magazines and a national album cover.

How fun and inspiring her classes are.
My “talent for” and “love of” art are on complete ends of the spectrum. Surprisingly, I have painted beautiful pieces under the watchful eye of Sonya during her classes. Having a full time job, I am not a regular; however, those that are have welcomed me so graciously when I am lucky enough to be able to fit the classes in my schedule.
So easy to participate as everything needed is provided. One simply needs to show up & be ready to create! I have taken my teenage daughter to a class and she also enjoyed the creative time!She is very takented, pleasant, and patient. She makes you feel welcome. She is a true artist and is able to convey that experience through her classes.
She is patient, kind, very knowledgeable. It was an excellent learning experience with a talented artist. Loved every moment!
People learn in different ways. Some are oral learners, some visual and some hands on. Sonya is very good at working with each person's learning style. She looks for the good in a student's work before she suggests how to improve. She is a very encouraging teacher.
