About Jay
I'm a creative by nature and a teacher by trade. I'm the owner of Jay Billups Creative Media. I currently have four employees and three interns.
I often offer clases in basic and advanced photography. However, the best experiences are one-on-one, wher you'll have my full, undivided attention.
I'm fortunate to have a career in what I love - photography, video production, design and print. Furthermore, I love teaching and helping other people enjoy their passions and discover those wonderful "Ah ha" moments.
I started teach in the US Air Force. I taught at the US Air Force Academy from 1998-2004.
Since then I've taught in Washington D.C., COlorado Springs and online.
I've trained all of my employees and serveral interns every year on the principles of photography and videography.

Jay Billups Creative Media taught me so much in such a short period of time. He made learning fun for me and I can't wait to learn more!
Jay made the class very easy to follow and gave really great demonstrations so that i could actually soak in what he was saying and understand the material.
Taking the intro to photography class with Jay was an AMAZING experience. He was able to make what seemed like a very scary topic, something easy and FUN to understand. I walked into the class knowing very little about photography and walked out feeling like a professional photographer! An incredible class taught by an incredible teacher!!!
I have taken a bunch of photography classes and I have always found that it is hard to understand the aperture. Jay's explanation of Depth of Focus was fantastic. Something just clicked and I understand it way better. In class, the visual example of the glass of water on the table and what would be in focus in the front and behind the cup.
