About Andrew

I am a Jazz Performance 5th year at Ohio State University. I have studied and played shows in different genres including classical, pop, hip hop, jazz, Motown, musical theater and more! Accomplisments include opening with a band for Bruno Mars in 2017. I love teaching and look forward to meeting you!

I love giving students the information and skills I wanted to know when I was younger. I love giving people the knowledge and skills to express themselves effectively through their music.

I got started teaching by helping a family friend learn saxophone. I found his progress with each lesson incredibly rewarding and I wanted to continue teaching people.

-7 years of playing saxophone

-4 completed years of music school (in progress) at Ohio State

-have taught lessons before with middle school to high school aged students

-have been a counselor/teacher for Ohio State's Saxophone Camp

My first step is to see where there student is in their abilities and talk to them about what their goals are through taking lessons and opportunities in the future. After that I will assign etudes, transcriptions, aural training exercises, and exercises that correspond to ability but challenge the student.

I've mainly worked with younger students but I believe that it's never too early to start lessons

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
-what do I want to do with music?

-what kind of music do I want to make?

-what do I want to convey through my performance
