About Culver
I believe that with proper instruction that keeps the student interested and challenged, a healthy voice can be built for almost anybody! I beieve in tailoring each voice lesson to fit that particular student- it's not a one-size-fits-all type of instruction. We have FUN and you get to learn something that will help you in more ways than just an improvement in singing. You will feel more supported in general with lower breathing capabilities and added oxygen to the brain that accompanies good singing habits!
I LOVE to see the pride my students take in their work! It is paramount to build a solid and healthy vocal instrument that will allow the student to achieve full potential, and when range improves and notes previously unattainable become much easier, when good breath support allows for better production of sound and tone, and when technical aspects become second nature, then progress is made, jobs are won, and confidence and joy in one's abilities is apparent!
After being told that I would be a great voice teacher forever by my performing peers as well as being asked for over 20 years if I taught voice lessons by audience members, I can finally say "Yes, I am now!"
I have been performing professionally since I was very young. I attended Northwestern University and got my Bachelors of Music , then attended the Juilliard School in New York City for more performing opportunities! From there, I attended a 2 year program at the William Esper School of acting ( Meisner based). I had my own cabaret show in NYC, I have performed both nationally and internationally in leading roles (musical theater and opera), and was nominated for an Obie Award. I am currently on the American Stage Musical Improv House Team "Definitely Not Murderers" in St. Petersburg, FL and have performed at the Atlanta, Miami and Chicago Improv Festivals as well.

I send a welcome email with instruction for the first lesson in which the student would have a song prepared to sing for me, either acapella or with a backing track. I suggest each student to have a 3 ring notebook to put all emailed vocal exercises from me in as well as all current songs we're working on . Then at the lesson I would assess after hearing the singer and go over some new vocal exercises to help improve and start building important vocal muscles. I would email them directly after the lesson so the student can practice at home in between the lessons. At the next lesson we would go over those exercises to improve upon technique and then new exercises would be gone over and emailed . After a few lessons, I give a song to the student that puts together the things we've been working on to improve. And then we continue from there!

Taking weekly lessons from Culver has been a great experience for my daughter who performs in a competitive drama high school program. My daughter loves her technical approach. She is always learning new music concepts that are easily applied when she is learning new music. Culver also has helped her with selecting materials for college auditions for not only music but also for acting. Always fun and professional.
