Business Description: Brian Swartz Trumpet & Jazz Instruction
Study with a Los Angeles veteran. Whether you are a beginner picking up the trumpet for the first time or an advanced player looking to break into the professional scene, I provide world-class instruction backed by over 30 years of elite industry experience.
My teaching is informed by a career spent on the biggest stages and in the most prestigious studios. I have served as the trumpet voice for Oingo Boingo Former Members since 2005 and recorded on The Chicks’ 5-time Grammy-winning album Taking the Long Way. My versatility spans from being a Staff Arranger on ABC’s Duets for stars like Kelly Clarkson and John Legend to performing with John Beasley’s Monk’estra.
I don’t just teach notes; I teach musicianship. My curriculum is personalized for every student and covers:
Total Trumpet Mastery: Embouchure, air support, range, and endurance.
Stylistic Versatility: Mastering the "colors" of Jazz, Rock, Pop, and Classical.
Improvisation: A clear, ear-first approach to jazz theory and soloing.
Professional Craft: Composing, arranging, and professional notation (Sibelius).
Lessons are held at my professional studio in Lake Balboa (San Fernando Valley) or globally via video chat. I offer a focused, encouraging environment where we work toward your specific goals—whether that’s a chair in the school band, a college audition, or recording your own album.
