Finding a teacher that you resonate with is extremely important. You have to be comfortable and confident in that person, making sure that there is a high level of mutual respect. In yoga, there are times when the practitioner may feel discomfort, feel vulnerable and sometimes feel emotional as deep releases occur and challenges are overcome, but at no time, should the practitioner ever feel uncomfortable with the actions or verbiage of the instructor.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Definitely having specific goals will help the instructor devise a practice that will best meet the practitioner's needs. Making sure that the instructor is aware of your current physical state, including past injuries or chronic areas of pain, discomfort or tension, along with stress levels and current life situations that may be causing you concern, are also essential to deepen the benefits of your practice. Basically, self-inventory.
