About Leigh

I am a passionate film theorist with a Bachelor of Arts in the Critical Analysis of Film, dedicated to helping students unlock the deeper meanings behind the images on screen. My academic background trained me to look beyond surface-level entertainment and view cinema as a powerful intersection of art, history, psychology, and culture. I love taking complex theoretical frameworks and making them accessible, practical, and exciting for filmmakers and cinephiles alike. For me, film theory is not just an academic exercise; it is an essential toolkit that sharpens how we interpret stories, write critiques, and approach our own creative projects. I bring this enthusiasm into every session, helping you develop a sharp, analytical eye and a deeper appreciation for the craft of filmmaking.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for aspiring filmmakers, media students, or passionate cinephiles who want to transform how they watch and understand movies by decoding the silver screen through film theory and analysis. I specialize in bridging the gap between artistic technique, historical context, and deep thematic meaning, utilizing a highly personalized approach that focuses on active, engaging discussions. Together, we will pause, rewind, and dissect individual sequences to master camera movement, mise-en-scène, color theory, and audio choices. Tailored entirely to your unique goals, whether you need to ace an academic exam, prepare for a festival submission, or hone your critical writing, each structured session begins with a collaborative warm-up and moves through interactive multimedia lectures into hands-on analysis where you spot tropes and breakdown script structures in real-time, leaving you with actionable lenses to apply directly to your own creative or academic work.
