About Jay

I believe that every student learns mathematics differently. My approach is patient, supportive, and focused on building understanding and confidence, rather than simply memorizing formulas or providing answers.

I have a strong analytical and problem-solving background through my work in technology, data science, and artificial intelligence, and I enjoy breaking down complex problems into clear, manageable steps.

These tutoring sessions are offered 100% free of charge as an independent initiative to support high-school students in the Hamilton community.

About the lesson

My goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them understand the concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and become more confident in mathematics.

I use a student-focused, step-by-step approach. I first identify the student's current understanding and areas of difficulty, then explain concepts using simple examples before gradually moving to more challenging problems. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, ask questions, and learn from mistakes rather than simply memorizing formulas.

I have known Jay for many years, and I can confidently say that he is someone who genuinely enjoys helping others learn. I’ve heard many stories from his time tutoring students in India, and more recently, I’ve seen how dedicated he has been to tutoring school-aged children in a variety of subjects. What stands out most about Jay is his patience and his ability to explain things in a way that students can actually understand. He doesn’t simply focus on giving students the answers — he takes the time to make sure they understand the concepts and feel comfortable asking questions. Having known him personally for so long, I can say that he is responsible, dependable, and very committed to anything he takes on.
