About Brian
I have a background in cognitive psychology and computer science and it is important to me to make sure my lessons are both approachable and informative. I aim to build mathematical intuitions which will help my students succeed through their academic careers, and I believe in using a variety of teaching methods (drawing diagrams, talking through practice problems, using spatial and physical analogies, etc.) to find what's most interesting, fun, and illuminating for them.

I'm tutoring math (arithmetic through calculus) and introductory computer science. As a tutor I aim to get a sense of what my students find difficult and where they need to improve, and then to work with them to help build a strong foundation in math (and/or CS) that will serve them through K-12 and beyond. I aim to give my students not just a strong "first principles" understanding but also an intuitive appreciation of mathematical concepts.
