About Jonah

Hello there!

My name is Jonah, from the great white north of Canada! I've been teaching a variety of subjects for as long as I can remember; martial arts, swimming, canoeing, English, and Maths. I learned very quickly that teaching is a passion of mine, so is game development.

I couldn't choose between the two disciplines, so after graduating from my undergraduate program in game design and development and putting a few years of experience under my belt, I took the long flight here to New Zealand to receive my Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching.

I aim to apply my knowledge of game design to creating meaningful and engaging lessons so that any student who may disengage with a subject in a traditional education setting can thrive when learning on their terms.

About the lesson

Game and software development is a very personal experience, you may have your own ideas of what you would like to develop or create so I will hand tailor a collection of lessons for you depending on which direction you would like to take your skills. However, no matter where you want to take your skills, all of my lessons are grounded on practical experience where you'll be left with a collection of programs you've developed yourself.

Programming is tiring work so lessons will be 1 hour 15 minutes each. This gives an hour for new lessons and 15 minutes for recapping previous lessons depending on which skills/concepts need attention.

Regarding my own experience, I've worked for the past two years as a professional game designer and developer on a mid-scale project which recently was published. Since publishing our game I moved to New Zealand to receive my graduate diploma in teaching at AUT.
