About Andrew
I have tutored for nearly two years, and have enjoyed seeing my students earn better grades and become more confident in their math skills. I enjoy math because it is both an escape and very applicable to the world around us. I took the most rigorous math courses offered at Foothill High School, including Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches HL in my senior year, earning As both semesters. This class is the most challenging of all International Baccalaureate math courses. I earned 5s on AP Biology, AP Psychology and AP US History, as well as a 740 on SAT Math. I am an Eagle Scout and was team captain of Foothill’s varsity cross country team. I will attend UCLA in the fall and will major in Financial Actuarial Mathematics.

What’s true for sports is true for math: practice makes perfect! In my lessons, students should expect a brief introduction to the topic before diving into theory, applications and, of course, practice examples and problems. I do not immediately solve problems for students, but instead guide them to success. I emphasize the importance of logic and rationale in math. Enabling students to solve complex problems independently is highly rewarding to me. When a student can explain to me how they solved and problem and why they solved it the way they did, I know I’ve succeeded.
