About Mariam
I am a primary teacher who has a great passion for learning journeys. This can be from small children to older children to adults. I love watching people grow and develop in learning. I am an individual who aims to be inclusive of everyone in my practice and love learning from people from all sorts of backgrounds. I studied Education at the University of Aberdeen for 4 years. I then worked in primary schools in Scotland as well as doing supply work in a secondary school. Thus, I have experience from a range of stages within learning. In Scotland, I follow the Curriculum for Excellence guidelines in set out benchmarks, experiences and outcomes for learning. This is what I use to plan learning.

My lessons start off from basics and expectations are not high at the beginning. I like to take a personal approach and really get to know the individual who I am teaching before any formal learning takes place. Then, I implement lessons which are fun and enticing yet also focused on obtaining required outcomes. I like to learn from learners as well as you learning from me. At the end of lessons I will provide various types of assessment to inform future planning tailored to each individual learner. I believe this is very important as I can really gauge where a learner is at and really gain an insight as to how to plan to produce positive outcomes. Additionally, I like to work collaboratively thinking of next steps for learning. I am really open to feedback and believe that learning can be seen as a collaborative experience.
