About Tengteng

I am a dedicated and patient tutor with a strong passion for mathematics, education and helping students achieve their academic goals.

I hold a Master's degree in TESOL and a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature. I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I have previous part-time teaching experience in AP Precalculus, where I helped students develop their understanding of algebra, functions, graphs and mathematical problem-solving. This experience strengthened my ability to explain challenging mathematical concepts clearly and adapt my teaching to students with different learning needs.

My background in education and language teaching has also equipped me with strong communication skills, patience and a student-centered approach to teaching.

I believe that every student can make progress in mathematics with the right guidance, encouragement and learning strategies. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing confidence in their abilities.

About the lesson

I believe that effective Math tutoring is about helping students truly understand mathematical concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas. My teaching approach is student-centered, structured and tailored to each learner's individual needs.

Teaching Methodology

I begin by assessing each student's current understanding and identifying areas for improvement. I use clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and problem-solving activities to help students develop mathematical reasoning and confidence. I encourage students to ask questions, explain their thinking and gradually become independent learners.

Typical Lesson Length

My lessons typically last 60 minutes, although 90-minute sessions can be arranged for students who need additional support or exam preparation.

Qualifications and Experience

I hold a Master's degree in TESOL and a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature. I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) at the University of Canterbury.

I also have previous part-time teaching experience in AP Precalculus, covering topics such as algebra, functions, graphs and mathematical reasoning. This experience has helped me develop effective strategies for explaining challenging mathematical concepts in an accessible and engaging way.

My lessons are suitable for intermediate and secondary school students (Years 7–13), as well as students studying Precalculus. I welcome learners who want to strengthen their mathematical foundations, improve their problem-solving skills, prepare for assessments or explore more advanced mathematics.
