About Shavonna
I am from Long Beach, California. Graduated Valedictorian from Dillard University Class of 2018. At Dillard, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work but became an early elementary school co-teacher where I was over teaching English language arts. After a year of great progress from my students, they learned how to fluently read but my ESL students still struggled a bit so I would take them and teach the same lesson during special with more fun and excitement which they really looked forward to. After seeing them excel I took a liking to teaching second language students and applied to teach abroad. With that, I received an offer to teach in China which was one of the rigorous yet influential experiences I’ve had. Now I am back in the states due to COVID and am ready to give teaching another shot.

I became very dedicated to teaching English after teaching primary school. Seeing my students phonetically sounding out sounds & forming words to where they were reading sentences made me feel so accomplished. After a year of teaching I moved to China to become a full-time ESL teacher teaching ages 3 to 15. Greatest experience thus far.

Perfect! I had a fantastic time with her. She was helpful and humble. Also, she has good communication skills with everyone, and she transferred her confidence to me in a crazy way
