About Amanda
I am a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University. I received a Bachelor of Arts in French and Geography, a Master of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies, and a certificate in GIS. I have tutored both French and Geography as a university student. Since graduation, I have taught Public Speaking and worked as a GIS Specialist. I have also worked as a barista for a number of years, as I really enjoy coffee and people. In my experience working with students, I find it helpful to listen to what they need from a session and guide them through their studies. It is not about the tutor telling the student what to do, but rather working together so the student can achieve success. I find that students really appreciate my approach and gain confidence in their work along the way. This leads to continued success in their academics overall. My hobbies include reading, spending time with animals, coffee, ballet, and of course anything French-related!

Not only do I have a degree in French, but I also have 5+ years of tutoring experience. I have also taught college level courses, as well as taught dance to children and adults. I like to take a pro-active approach to tutoring, where we decide together what should be worked on, and then tailor the lesson accordingly. We can work on anything from assigned homework, past exams, future test prep, speeches, and projects. This is for someone enrolled in high school or college courses, or someone looking to learn independently.
