About Donavan
I am currently a physics PhD student at Florida State University, where I research particle physics.
I have been tutoring math and science for over 7 years. I have tutored many levels of math from Algebra 1 through differential equations and Abstract Algebra. I have also tutored physics and chemistry at both the high school and undergraduate level.
I have a bachelors degree in mathematics with a concentration in pure mathematics and another bachelors degree in physics, both obtained at Troy University. I have recently obtained my masters degree in physics at Florida State University.
I have my CRL-A Level 1 International Tutor Certification, which was obtained while employed as a peer tutor at Chipola College in the Academic Center for Excellence, the campus tutoring center. I was also a hired tutor for the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program at Troy University, where I tutored minority undergraduate students weekly in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. While at Florida State University, I have been a teaching assistant for the physics program for the past 2.5 years. I have taught both general physics (trig-based) as well as general physics with calculus.

I tutor using a very engaging and interactive style that keeps students attention as well as allows hands on learning with tougher subjects. Because every student learns at different paces and with different methods, all of my tutoring sessions are specific for the student, so they can obtain the greatest benefit in each session. I specialize in tutoring high school and college-aged students in math and physics. I love seeing students who go from being afraid of math and science to gaining a confidence no matter the problem ahead of them. I really enjoy learning new things and sharing those things with others, and teaching provides that avenue.
