About Luis
As a first-generation Latino who grew up in poverty and in a single parent household, school was very tough to say the least. My grades were below average throughout K-12, but I DRASTICALLY changed my life after high school. NOW, I am a graduate student at YALE UNIVERSITY. My dream is to be a VERSATILE science professor. Although I am a Biochemistry/Biomedical major, I fell in LOVE with tutoring math, physics, chemistry, biology, etc. I started back in 2014 as a college tutor then progressed into a freelance tutor over the years. I am EXPERIENCED in tutoring students as young as 3, with learning disabilities, and great with large groups. I hold 3 Associate of Sciences for Math and Science, Biology, and PE Fitness and Wellness with Great Distinction (GPA 3.8) from Moreno Valley College. Last year, I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, cum laude (GPA 3.85). I tutor PHYSICS (Mechanical, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, Optics), CHEMISTRY (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry), BIOLOGY (General Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Population and Organismal, Human Genetics, Plant Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Virology, etc.), MATHEMATICS (Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1,2,3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra) and ESSAY WRITING (Reading, Writing, Resumes, Cover Letters, Personal Statements, Statements of Purpose etc.) TAKE AWAY: If I did it, then you can too My goal as a tutor is to meet students where they are, understand them, and guide them to do BETTER than me.

Perfect! Luis is great! He’s honestly been a lifesaver. I was really struggling to keep up with my organic chemistry course, but his ability to explain everything so clearly has made a world of a difference. He’s very patient and takes the time to make sure I really understand the material. If you’re having a tough time with orgo, I can’t recommend Luis enough.
Perfect! I’m a professional esthetician for over 20 years and have returned to school to advance my career. I’m four months into a chemistry class and needless to say I’m a bit rusty. Thankfully I started to work with Luis. He’s very professional, very prepared and able to asses quickly where I need help. He explains things in a way that make sense to me. Luis is a fantastic tutor. He really listens to your concerns and takes the time to help you in a way that fits your learning style. He explains things clearly and makes sure you fully understand the topic before moving on. He tries his best to make sure you never leave a session feeling confused
