About Maggie
Currently working towards a maths&psychology degree at University of St Andrews. Prior to this, I attended King's Maths School, where my love for maths thrived. I feel really grateful for the way I was taught maths here, in a way that showed how interesting it truly was, due to how passionate the teachers were about the subject. I wanted to give back, and started my own tutoring business with my first client being a friend of a friend who needed help with A levels. He scored the highest grade in his school that year and met his requirement for entry into his top choice University. I've also tutored a student in Manchester University as well as a primary school student, gaining valuable teaching experience with a range of ages. I still tutor the student at Manchester university to this day (over facetime-social distancing style!).

An engaging understanding of the concepts behind problem solving is an integral part of my success in maths, so I ensure I create this for my students. My lessons usually consist of working through questions the student has sent me prior to the lesson which they want to work on or have found challenging. I start with an introductory discussion on the topic (e.g. if the question is on partial derivatives) to grasp an idea of their level of initial understanding. Then, I break the question down into steps and ask prompting questions to help guide them through solving the problem. My focus to meet the student where they're at and provide a challenging but interesting experience, whilst maintaining an appropriate pace.

Maggie has helped through a lot of maths and helped me truly understand each topic. I still ask her for help if I get stuck on Uni level maths and she helps without any problems. I couldn’t recommend her more. She is incredibly helpful.
