About Iain
Hello! I am Iain and I graduated in History from Wolfson College, Cambridge, in 2019 with a High 2.1. I studied a range of periods and places over my degree including Tudor and Stuart England, the French Revolution, and Italian and German unifications. At school, I achieved A*s in History, Maths, Chemistry and Biology at A2.
For my lessons, I prepare thoroughly beforehand, finding mark schemes, past papers and examiners' reports to identify exactly what examiners are looking for in students. This means I can work with pupils on specific aspects of their work to improve their marks, and how to structure their work best to fit the specific examiners' expectations.
In my free time, I perform a lot of am-dram, as a techie, actor, director and producer at university, as well as watching some when I'm not backstage! I was also Treasurer of the theatre society, CUADC, in my final year.

In the seven years that I have known Iain his passion for history has been unrelenting, and my own knowledge of the subject has benefitted to no end. Whether it stem from discussion on the world today, or Iain's latest historical strategy game, he is always ready to launch into a history lesson on where it all went wrong (or occaionally right) and how things came to be the way they are. He is incredibly engaging and well spoken when explaining things, and I feel he always gives just the right level of detail.
Beyond his history knowledge Iain is very dependable. In recent years his ability to succesfully juggle a prestigious degree and a near full theatre career has always amazed me. As well as being both responsible and organised, Iain is an excellent listener which from my own experience is the most essential skill a tutor could have.
