There are multiple topics and periods when it comes history, which means that there are many areas to learn and discuss. Depending on the desired period and area, small structured debates are effective means of understanding certain subjects in history. Engaging with the student about what specific area in history they are interested in/studying at school is useful when constructing means of teaching. It is also good to understand what it is that a pupil struggles with in history so that there is an understanding of what might need to be improved. There are multiple sources of research that can be recommended by me to those learning history at school, as well as methodologies to learn specific historical dates, individuals and event titles etc. Structuring a well balanced essay is important in history, especially further down the years of learning about the course, so this will be taught as well as the specific area being studied.
