About Pierre
Hello, my name is Pierre Sejourne. I am doing a double degree in Advanced Mathematics (Honors) and Computer Science at UNSW, following the successful completion of the International Baccalaureate.
I have a strong passion for mathematics and problem-solving, both in academic and competitive contexts. I have extensive experience in algorithmic thinking, logical reasoning, and tackling complex, abstract problems.
I am dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. I focus on creating lessons that are structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether preparing for exams, mastering challenging content, or developing problem-solving skills, I aim to provide clear explanations, practical strategies, and personalized guidance.

My teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding first, then problem-solving application. I break down complex questions into manageable, logical steps, demonstrating patterns and reasoning strategies rather than rote procedures. My lessons integrate exam-style questions during which I encourage students to articulate their reasoning, so they develop independent problem-solving ability and critical thinking.
Typical Length of a Lesson
I usually structure lessons as 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s level and focus. This allows sufficient time for reviewing previous material, introducing new concepts and independent practice with immediate feedback. I can do longer sessions, but in my experience they are only for intensive exam preparation or especially complex topics, due to how taxing intensive study is for the student.
Qualifications and Experience
IB Diploma: 7 in Mathematics AAHL, 7 in Computer Science HL
Mathematics Problem Solving: Gold medal in the 2024 AMO, 200 Project Euler problems solved
Experience mentoring peers in competitive programming, problem-solving, and exam preparation as a tutor and the manager of the coding club at my high school.
Familiarity with both IB and Australian curriculum content and assessment standards
