About Max
I’m Max, a 22-year-old recent graduate pursuing a PhD. Tutoring suits me as I have a passion for science and maths; they show us how the universe works, why there is such a diversity of life in the world, how we can build a sustainable future, how we can lead healthier lives. Teaching these subjects is fulfilling, I am incredibly patient and will explain something as many times as it takes and in as many different ways I can - I love the penny-drop moment. Alongside pursuing a PhD I am an avid outdoorsman. In my free time you can find me swimming in the sea, fishing, cycling, running, walking, camping. This summer (2025) I spent 32 days cycling 4000km from the Arctic Circle in Norway to Calais, carrying my tent and fishing rod with me along the way.

I have recently graduated from the University of Bath with a first-class honours degree in Natural Sciences and am now pursuing a PhD. I am offering tutoring in Chemistry, Biology and Maths at GCSE and A-level. Being only 22, I can relate to students and have recent, first-hand experience of their exam process so am poised to offer quality advice. My youth does not sacrifice experience as I have been tutoring for 4 years and have over 1000 hours taught with 30+ students and 13 five-star reviews. I run my lessons much like a conversation with fast-paced thinking and cross-linking; this keeps the student engaged and avoids simple rote memorisation but fosters deeper understanding. I do not like to tutor for more than two hours at a time as this is the upper limit of most attention spans; I like to keep most of my lessons under one and a half hours. Primarily I tutor online; however, I can offer in-person lessons in the Dorset area.
