About Shun
Hi, I’m Shun, a fluent Japanese speaker with experience helping students move from confusion to confidence in real-world language communication.
Having learned Japanese through both structured study and real usage from a young age, I understand the exact stages learners go through. This allows me to explain the language in a way that is clear, logical, and practical, not just theoretical.
I focus on helping students build strong foundations while also developing natural, conversational fluency.
My Teaching Approach
* Structured yet flexible lessons tailored to each student’s level and goals
* Emphasis on real communication rather than rote memorization
* Clear, step-by-step explanations of grammar and sentence structure
* Practical vocabulary taught through context and real-life usage
* Regular speaking practice to build confidence and fluency
* Supportive environment where questions and mistakes are part of learning
A Typical Lesson
* Quick review of previous material to reinforce retention
* Introduction of new grammar, vocabulary, or expressions
* Guided practice with examples and exercises
* Conversation practice or role-play based on real situations
* Feedback and targeted advice for improvement and independent study
What Sets Me Apart
* I understand the learner’s perspective and common difficulties firsthand
* I can break down complex concepts into simple, intuitive explanations
* I teach Japanese as it is actually spoken, not just how it appears in textbooks
* I adapt my teaching style to match how each student learns best
* I prioritize steady progress and long-term confidence over shortcuts
Who My Lessons Are For
* Complete beginners starting from zero
* Intermediate learners aiming to improve fluency
* High school and university students
* Adults learning Japanese for travel, work, or personal interest
* Students preparing for exams or structured assessments
* Anyone who wants to speak Japanese more naturally and confidently
Learning Japanese can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right structure and guidance, it becomes a clear and rewarding process. My role is to make that process efficient, understandable, and genuinely enjoyable.

Perfect! I'm an advanced/near-fluent speaker who struggles with speaking anxiety. Shun is very easygoing and easy to talk to, and he was very understanding about my issues. His international experience gives him unique insight which I think is a great asset as a tutor. I think he would do well with any level student and will be a great conversation partner going forward!
