• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I specialize in teaching Spanish in an online mode. My interest in this field developed from a deep fascination with languages and cultures. Spanish, being one of the most widely spoken languages globally, offers a rich cultural tapestry that I found incredibly appealing. The rhythmic cadence of the language, the warmth of its speakers, and its global relevance intrigued me. As I delved into learning Spanish myself, I realized the immense joy and personal growth that comes from mastering a new language. This motivated me to share this experience with others and facilitate their journey into the Spanish-speaking world.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My primary motivation for teaching is to empower individuals with the ability to connect with Spanish speakers, explore their culture, and broaden their horizons. Language is a bridge that fosters understanding and relationships across borders, and by teaching Spanish, I contribute to breaking down linguistic barriers. Witnessing my students' progress and the excitement they experience as they become proficient in Spanish is a rewarding feeling. I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about igniting curiosity and enthusiasm for lifelong learning.

• How does your work help society?

  My work as a Spanish tutor plays a crucial role in promoting cultural exchange and global communication. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, the ability to communicate in multiple languages is a valuable skill. By equipping my students with Spanish language proficiency, I am indirectly contributing to better cross-cultural understanding, trade relations, and travel experiences. In essence, my work helps create a more inclusive and connected society where individuals can engage with others from different backgrounds.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  If I were to choose a role model for my work, it would be Gabriela Mistral. She was a Chilean poet, diplomat, and educator who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1945. Mistral's dedication to education, her passion for language, and her commitment to fostering a sense of cultural identity resonate deeply with me. She understood the transformative power of education and how it shapes societies. Her influence as a poet also reflects the beauty and depth that language can offer.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside of teaching, I'm an avid traveler. Exploring new places allows me to immerse myself in different cultures, languages, and experiences. It also helps me stay connected with my passion for languages by putting them into real-world context. I'm also a fan of culinary adventures, trying dishes from various cuisines. Additionally, I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction books, as well as engaging in creative writing.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  One memorable anecdote from my teaching experience involves a student who started with very little knowledge of Spanish but was highly motivated. Over time, their dedication and hard work paid off, and they progressed remarkably. The most heartwarming moment was when this student confidently conversed with a native Spanish speaker during their travels. Witnessing their transformation from a hesitant beginner to a confident communicator was incredibly gratifying and showcased the true potential of committed learning.
