About Gerardo
Professionally I work in the human and social sciences, having several years of experience as a teacher. Regarding origami, I have been seriously dedicated to this art-form since 2010. I currently have around 80 models of my own design. Some have been included in publications from Spain, Great Britain, and the country. I am the founder of the international "Folding Together FoTo meetings", also the series of hands-on presentations with international guest-speakers "Foldeas: Sharing Ideas through Origami", and the collaborative blog Neorigami. I was the editor of the book "Practigami". Wrote the foreword to the special issue of the Spanish origami magazine "Pajarita 2013" and published different articles in specialized magazines. Was interviewed for the electronic origami fanzine "Mini Neo"; I was also a member of their editorial team. Lastly, I have exhibited in different libraries and university institutions.

The classes have two different goals: to acquire a general understanding of the origami culture (diagrams, specialized words, its classifications, mathematics, etc.) and to channel our curiosity through folding explorations (trying out new ideas and learning to express oneself creatively). To accomplish that, we will carry out very different activities; we won't be just learning the steps to fold some models (figures). In some classes you will want to take notes like in any formal class, but in others, you will participate in challenges that call for creative solutions. Live online sessions. Ages 10 to 150*, NOT only for kids, and NO previous experience in origami is needed. Groups of maximum six students.

Gerardo is an amazing teacher. He organizes a large group on line. Sometimes there are 30-50 students of all abilities. His role is organizer but he will help teachers clarify steps when the student is having trouble. He assists teachers with students needing a bit more help. He gently asks ‘how is everyone doing?’. Sometimes the official teacher is on a roll & does not think about ‘straggler-folders’. Gerardo is concerned about ALL the students. He offers to help, not in a threatening or dominating way. His empathy is evident. Other teachers could learn volumes from him.

Details
I offer six classes in total. They can be daily, every other day, weekly ... however you see fit. The first four take 1 hour and 30 min, and the last two 2 hours (10 hours in total), so to make the most of each one. With the discount, they cost a total of $230 for 1 student. You can also pay $26 per class for 1 student. In the case of groups, pay an additional $6 USD per class and for each student after the first. The group cannot have more than six students. Here's a good tip: The larger the group, the less each one has to pay.
