About Alexander
I am a university graduate working part-time as a freelance Mathematics tutor for students aged 11-18 (and doing some volunteering). I have a strong academic background in Mathematics (a First-class degree from the University of Southampton, an A* at A-Level, and a 9 at GCSE), so I have the knowledge to teach you the concepts.
Currently, I am at the beginning of my Maths tuition journey - gradually gaining private students and preparing for more permanent tutoring jobs with various agencies. Mathematics can feel overwhelming when a topic or method is explained too quickly. My aim is to make learning and exam preparation more approachable by tailoring each lesson to your specific needs and level of understanding. I tutor KS3, GCSE, and A-Level Mathematics with a patient, structured teaching style that emphasizes clear explanations, problem-solving, and constructive feedback.
I really enjoy helping students become more confident and independent in Mathematics, so if this sounds like the right approach to you, please get in touch. Lessons are available online (or in person if you are in Cambridge) and last 60 minutes, with some set homework where appropriate. For students who would benefit from more regular support, two or three sessions per week can also be arranged.
Our first lesson will be free and include a brief diagnostic assessment to determine your learning style, confidence, and subject knowledge.

I help KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students become more confident in Maths, close knowledge gaps, and improve their exam performance. Lessons are tailored to the student's current level, with clear explanations, targeted practice, constructive feedback, and regular exam-question work.
All lessons will take place online (or in person if you are located in Cambridge) and will last 60 minutes. Our primary goal is to improve both your theoretical knowledge (understanding of concepts) and problem-solving ability (application of concepts). The approach will be simple: introducing theory through slides, verbal explanations, and references to the textbook; testing your initial understanding through simple worked examples; and finally, working through selected exercise questions at your pace.
There will also be some set homework for the next lesson (continuing with the selected questions). If you have any questions before then, you can message me, and I will aim to get back to you as soon as possible.
Together, we will assess your ability across the relevant specification or course content, identify weaker topics, and create a careful plan to boost your skills and confidence in all examinable topics (hopefully).
