About Thomas
I decided to start teaching because I believe many students struggle not due to a lack of ability, but because they haven't yet found the right way to learn. During my RAF service, I saw first-hand how the right guidance and encouragement can help people unlock their potential, even under pressure. Tutoring allows me to combine my academic knowledge of the law with my practical experience of mentoring others to achieve their goals. For me, teaching is not just about covering a syllabus. It's about building confidence, developing effective study habits, and showing students that legal concepts, while challenging, can be mastered with the right approach. My aim is to help students succeed academically, but also to give them tools they can carry into university, careers, and beyond.

My teaching style is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student's needs. I break down complex legal principles into clear, manageable steps, ensuring students not only understand the law but also learn how to apply it effectively in essays and exams. I use practical examples, problem questions, and discussion to deepen understanding, while also teaching study techniques such as effective note-taking, time management, and exam preparation strategies.
Lesson Length: Most sessions last 60 minutes, as this is the ideal balance for focus and progress. However, I can also provide 90-minute intensive sessions for revision or essay preparation, depending on the student's needs. Qualifications & Experience: I am a final-year Law student (LLB), predicted First, with 14 years' leadership experience in the Royal Air Force, where I specialised in legal compliance, policy management, and training others in critical decision-making. While relatively new to formal mentoring, I have extensive experience in mentoring and teaching in professional settings, backed up by a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, often helping others to learn under pressure. This background allows me to provide not only academic guidance but also practical skills such as prioritisation and problem-solving.
I tutor A-Level and Undergraduate Law students, typically aged 16+. I also offer support in essay writing, study skills and exam technique - perfect for students who want to build confidence, develop effective study habits, and achieve strong results.
