About Jennifer
I am a newly licensed teacher for Michigan. I have an endorsement for English and Language arts for Kindergarten through 8th grade. My focus is on strategies for new readers and comprehension for more advanced readers. I also work to create a love for reading in students who find themselves struggling to be interested in reading either for school or entertainment. I also have a strong writing background with a focus in research analysis, essay writing and creative writing.
While my focus is in English and Language Arts, I am able to work in all subject areas for Kindergarten through 5th grade and am also working towards an endorsement for Social Studies as well. With my bachelor's degree in Sociology I have a strong handle on the study of cultures, geography and history.

I base my classes on the student's current level and then their need. The first few classes will be to get to know that student, find out where they are at in that moment in the subject. I use this time to conduct some pre-assessments and see what areas students need focus in. I try to gear my lessons towards student's personal interests to help keep them engaged and in turn create better focus and progress in their work.
