About Jeena
I'm a K-6 licensed educator and pending 6-12 English and Chemistry certificate additions. I've been teaching 10+ years both in education and other industries such as finance and software. I've also taught SCUBA diving, yoga, and summer reading programs. I teach reading and ESL to children and adults. I'm an International Educator who has taught ESL in Korea; the IB World curriculum in China; and yoga and diving in the US, Panama, and Caribbean.
I teach all Elementary subjects, but especially love teaching reading, science, and nature learning! I follow progressive education methodologies.

My classroom addresses the developmental needs of the whole child: mental, physical, spiritual, emotional. We practice creative, critical, and independent thinking derived from project- and inquiry-based lessons, resulting in experiential application of real-life skills. Utilizing methods of Positive Behavior Support and Non-Violent Communication in concert with emotional intelligence skills, I mentor children to collaborate in and self-direct their education, manifesting in an intrinsic motivation to learn and a lifelong love of learning. By balancing academic growth with socio-emotional learning, my students have the tools to move toward self-actualization. I am committed to a multicultural classroom, connection and relationships, global thinking, community activism, environmental welfare, social justice, health, well-being, and conflict resolution. Above all, I love learning and I love my learners!
I cull from Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori traditions. I love teaching reading to younger students, and assisting older students and adults to enhance their reading and studying ability.
My teaching approach is based in compassion, non-violent communication, and conflict resolution.

Details
I offer 4-week Learn to Read and Reading Enhancement Courses for $400.
Virtual reading classes require parent assistance for ages 4-7 and take-home enrichments require parents to assist their children.
I do not offer a free trial class, but I do offer a $25 one-time rate for a 30-minute trial class. When you sign up for one month of classes (4 minimum), this $25 is applied to the total fee.
ESL Conversation, Writing, and Reading classes for English-language Learners are $50/class.
10% discounts are given for prepaid classes by the month (4 class minimum).
Full subject Kindergarten tutoring or courses range from $75-150 per hour, and include all Elementary/Primary subjects based on US or International Curriculum.
