About Shriya

I’m a junior at Georgia Tech studying Literature, Media, and Communication. I’ve been tutoring English since I was 14, working with students at Eye Level, Kumon, and one-on-one at home. I scored a 780 on the SAT English section, but what I really care about is helping students feel more confident in their reading and writing. Whether it’s younger students building strong foundations or high schoolers working on college essays, I try to make learning less stressful and more empowering.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor I like to keep my lessons personal and approachable. Every student learns differently, so I start by figuring out what they’re comfortable with and where they’re struggling. From there, I explain concepts in simple terms, give examples that actually make sense, and then let them practice with guidance. My goal is to make English less intimidating and more about building skills step by step. Typical Lesson Plan Quick review of what we worked on last time Introduce one main skill or concept (like thesis writing, grammar, or reading strategies) Work through an example together Student tries on their own while I give feedback End with a recap and a small goal for next time What Makes Me Different I’m patient and easy to talk to, so students don’t feel pressured or embarrassed if they don’t understand something right away. I also bring energy and creativity, I try to make writing and reading feel useful, not just an assignment. For older students, I also specialize in college application essays. I help students figure out what story they want to tell, structure their essays, and polish them so their voice really comes through. Who I Teach K-10 students who want to get stronger in English, reading, and writing High school students who need editing or brainstorming help on college personal statements and supplementals. At the end of the day, I want my students to feel confident. I’m not just helping with homework or essays, I’m helping them build skills they’ll use for years.
