About Simon
I am an award-winning artist currently studying for a Masters. I graduated with First-class honours from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) in 2018 and I have been a practising artist since, exhibiting regularly in London. My particular specialisms within art are robotics and ecology.
In 2017/18 I taught myself the basics of programming and robotics and designed and constructed large-scale autonomous robotic sculptures.
Since graduation I have focused on climate change and art's role in socio-ecological systems, making artworks using only foraged materials such as distilled turpentine from pine sap, beeswax, and bone - to name a few. I have also designed and built sustainable electricity turbines that function as socially-engaged interactive sculpture.
More recently, after recognising the limits of art's efficacy in this sphere, I have begun studying an MSc in Agroforestry and Global Food Security and as a result I can offer a global yet detailed perspective on issues which concern ecologically-aware artists.

- Mead Scholarship (2017)
- Selected for Orbit UK Graduate Art Show, OXO Tower, London (2018)
- Visiting lecturer for Camberwell College of Arts (2020)
- Selected for Valley of the Possible "BLACK EARTH" art-ecology residency in Southern Chile (2021)
- Upcoming solo exhibition with Brockley Gardens, Brockley, London (2022)
- Extensive experience organising and taking part in crits and tutorials, both in groups and one on one.
Although this bio may sound pretentious, coming from a farming background I would like to think I have a very grounded and pragmatic view of things. I offer a healthy dose of cynicism and criticality, and I encourage intense scrutiny of all things at all times - especially of art - so hopefully students don't go away thinking and making in the same way I do, but rather are empowered to better think and make in their own idiosyncratic way.

I teach university level art students and people hoping to build a portfolio and begin their studies.
I approach lessons differently for everyone, tailoring my teaching method according to your specific needs and desires. However, I always underpin artistic education with theory and philosophy as I believe that creative thought proceeds creative expression.
Whatever the method, my approach is always relaxed, conversational, and hopefully fun.
