About Chuansong
Hi! I am Chuansong Shen (沈川颂), but feel free to call me Esther! I am 18 years old and currently raising money for college. I grew up in Tianjin, China, with Mandarin Chinese being my primary language. This is my 4th year of studying in the United States. I will graduate from high school in Columbus, Ohio in May, 2025. I love learning different languages and intend to minor in linguistics. At school, I TA for an 11th-grade level junior English class. I passed the AP English Language and Composition exam with a 5 and took three years of Spanish. Being able to learn a second language and master it has always been my goal that I do with joy. I love singing opera, creative writing, and reading in my free time.

My main focus is to help students with Chinese reading & writing/HSK prep. I desire to create a class where I will help my students immerse themselves in a native-like Chinese environment and stimulate their brain to adapt Chinese skills like a native speaker. Conversations & free writings can be expected as either in-class activity or homework. I will also introduce my students to Chinese history & culture as we move forward with our lessons. I will also recommend them some books (mostly graphic novels) to help them understand the class content. The first lesson will typically be an evaluation of the student's level of Chinese speaking. I will customize a lesson plan for each student. A typical class will begin with an icebreaker, pop-quiz (occasionally), class content, and my class is designed for students who have at least basic knowledge of Chinese pronunciation & grammar. (Chinese 1 equivalent or higher)
