About Elijah
My name is Elijah! I am an undergrad Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a focus in engineering and computer science. Growing up, I have always loved mathematics. In fourth grade, I would use ridiculously large numbers when doing arithmetic in order to challenge myself. Self-advocating became one of my best qualities after me and my family started moving annually. Because of the constantly changing curricula at my multiple schools, I began teaching myself in a plethora of subjects, but with mathematics being my focus.
I have experience tutoring high school students on the Learn to Be platform. I have been tutoring for about a year in a multitude of subjects such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus 1 & 2, Physics, Psychology, Finance, and a lot more. If a student needed help in a subject matter, I had little to no knowledge in, then I would take the time to learn it so that the content will be more digestible.

I believe that self-discipline and self-advocating are the main factors serving as a conduit for progress. I will use this approach in my tutoring, as it is always the student who knows how they learn best. The semi-Montessori approach along with a constant practice of subject matter is my optimized method for tutoring, with adjustments made for individual needs. I will arrange lesson plans before our meeting. These will include practice and material that the student can go over theirself for proficiency, with myself being there for guidance.
