My Bharatanatyam classes are structured to give you a comprehensive learning experience, drawing from my 12 years of training and choreographing numerous dances. Each session begins with a 10-15 minute invocation and warm-up, preparing our bodies and minds. We then dedicate 20-30 minutes to refining basic adavus and mastering the aramandi and various mudras, crucial for building a strong foundation. Next, for 15-20 minutes, we delve into intricate rhythmic sequences (jathis and theermanams), enhancing our precision and timing. The core of the class involves 30-40 minutes of choreography practice, where we learn new pieces or refine existing ones, focusing on detailed steps and expressive storytelling. For applicable items, we'll spend 15-20 minutes on abhinaya, exploring facial expressions and emotional conveyance. We conclude each class with a 5-10 minute cool-down and recap, ensuring proper physical recovery and reinforcing what we've learned.
