About Michael
I was born and raised in the USA , but I currently live in Mexico . I speak C1 Level Spanish.
I was taught the Mexican Spanish Pronunciation by an Accent Coach and was motivated to start doing so for English. I'm now a certified teacher of English as a Second Language. I also have a BA in Philosophy.
My current hobbies are watching anime, tourism, and video games, and my three biggest interests is my Catholic faith, my family (husband, father) and linguistics.
And of course, I thoroughly enjoy surprising students with new pronunciation.

I use the Articulatory Method—which focuses on how we move our mouth and vocal cords to produce sounds.
Research shows that this helps learners master new sounds in a second language, because when you learn and practice new movements, your brain creates new "categories" for these previously unfamiliar sounds, making it easier to speak and suddenly hear them correctly. (Flege, 2019; Cibelli, 2020)
Many underestimate the importance of learning pronunciation, but it's as essential as grammar and vocabulary in mastering a language. (Prashant, 2018)
In my lessons you'll learn the vocabulary you need through contextualized lessons, boosting retention and comprehension. (Wilson & Bransford, 1979)
I’ll also mix grammatical structures through context-based questions which has been shown to enhance long-term retention. (Nakata & Suzuki, 2019)
Studies show that pronunciation enhances speech, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills (Jenkins, 2000; Derwing & Munroe, 2009; Field, 2008; Walker, 2014).
Ultimately, teaching pronunciation has been proven to be effective (Saito, 2012; Lee et al., 2015).
So where in the language journey will you be learning pronunciation?

Q: What are your regular hours?
️A: Mon-Sat 6PM-9PM (UTC-6). In 2025 (for religious reasons) I will take off the following days: : Jan 1; Mar 19, 25; Apr 18-26; Jun 19, 24, 27, 28; Aug 15; Nov 1; Dec 8, 12, 25.
Q: Can you make an exception for me on the calendar?
A: I update my calendar daily with maximum availability, but appointments can change anytime. Check back later for openings—first come, first served!
Q: I do NOT speak with native speakers, is this for me?
️A: Improving pronunciation enhances your ability to produce and understand sounds of native speakers of the USA or Canada. If you're aiming to connect with native English speakers, this program is ideal for you.
Q: Can you do something else besides pronunciation?
️A: I focus on pronunciation, as this is my expertise. However, if you just want to have conversation I can do that. While I have some vocab and grammar resources, and we practice vocab and grammar inside our lessons, I recommend other tutors for specialized lessons beyond this.
Q: Can you do a special request for the first Lesson like a mock debate, job interview prep, etc?
️A: The first lesson is for us to get acquainted, discuss your goals, and get a general introduction to the Articulatory Method and Pronunciation.
