About Connie
Hi, I’m Connie—an experienced music educator, performer, and songwriter with 10 years of teaching experience and a lifetime of performance under my belt. I’ve trained at Berklee College of Music, collaborated with Grammy-winning professionals across North America, and studied under renowned mentors like Gabrielle Goodman and Pat Pattison. As a performer, I’ve toured the East Coast of Canada, released original music produced by hitmaker David “DQ” Quinones (known for his work with Beyoncé, BTS, and Demi Lovato), and brought powerful pop-R&B storytelling to stages across the country. Known for my vibrant energy, evocative vocals, and hands-on coaching style, I’m committed to helping students unlock their voice and creative potential. Whether you’re preparing for a performance, developing your songwriting, or just beginning your musical journey, I offer practical, personalized guidance to help you grow with confidence.

As a music educator with over 10 years of teaching experience and a lifetime as a performer, I offer two distinct paths: vocal lessons for those looking to develop their voice, and songwriting lessons for artists who want to deepen their craft. My approach is practical, customized, and grounded in real-world experience—not generic methods or cookie-cutter material. Every lesson is designed around the individual because no two voices or creative processes are the same. VOCAL LESSONS My vocal coaching focuses on building confidence, control, and vocal identity. Lessons cover breath support, pitch accuracy, tone, phrasing, and performance technique. Whether you’re prepping for an audition, getting back into singing, or just learning to love your voice, we’ll work together to develop your sound in a way that feels natural and sustainable. I provide a judgment-free, supportive space that meets you exactly where you are—no experience required. SONGWRITING LESSONS In songwriting sessions, we focus on lyric development, melody writing, structure, and emotional clarity. I help students turn their ideas into complete, compelling songs—whether they’re writing for themselves, others, or looking to break into the industry. Lessons often include creative exercises, feedback on works-in-progress, and real-world strategies for finishing songs that feel honest and strong. My experience working alongside Grammy-winning professionals gives students a clear view of both the craft and the business of songwriting. What Sets Me Apart I bring a rare combination of artistic, educational, and industry experience. I’ve managed music teachers and taught across 53 schools, developed music curriculum, and worked with top-tier professionals. I know how to adapt to different learning styles and creative goals, and I care deeply about the artists I work with. Whether we’re working on your voice, your songs, or both, my goal is to help you grow—not just as a musician, but as a creative human being. Who My Lessons Are For I work with kids, teens, college students, and adults—beginners, experienced performers, or those returning to music after time away. Whether you’re pursuing a career or simply want to express yourself more fully, lessons are designed to support you and your journey.

I highly recommend Connie May as a vocal teacher. I started as a complete beginner and truly believed I was tone deaf. With Connie’s clear guidance and supportive coaching, I built confidence and real skills, and I now perform comfortably as a vocalist in a local band.
Connie is by far the best vocal coach I’ve worked with. Her knowledge of vocal technique is matched by her ability to communicate it clearly and effectively. She helped me correct long-standing habits I didn’t even realize I had, and within weeks, I noticed a difference in my tone, breath control, and overall confidence. What makes her stand out is her attention to detail—she listens carefully, and offers specific feedback. She doesn’t just train your voice—she teaches you how to use it with intention. If you’re serious about improving your vocals, Connie is the real deal.
Before working with Connie, I was nervous to even sing in front of someone, let alone write my own music. But she made the process feel approachable, supportive, and even fun. She has this amazing ability to break things down clearly without ever making you feel judged. Her lessons are well-structured but never rigid—she’s incredibly intuitive and adapts to what you need in the moment. It’s rare to find a teacher who’s both a professional at the highest level and genuinely invested in your personal growth. Connie helped me find not just my voice, but my confidence. I always leave our sessions feeling energized and inspired.
Working with Connie has been nothing short of transformational. She’s not only incredibly knowledgeable, with a background that speaks for itself, but she also brings so much care and intention into every lesson. From the start, I felt seen and supported—she knew exactly how to meet me where I was, while still challenging me to grow. Her experience as both a performer and educator shines through in everything she does. Whether it’s vocal coaching or songwriting, Connie has a gift for helping you connect to your own voice and artistic identity. She’s reliable, organized, and deeply passionate about her students' success. You can tell she genuinely wants you to thrive—and that’s what makes her so trustworthy. I can’t recommend her enough.
