About Eric
You will find that your first session begins with a diagnostic skills check to map out where your current knowledge sits. This helps us decide whether we should prioritise reading tabs, understanding scales and modes, or refining your acoustic technique. I draw upon my formal music background to ensure that even the most basic rhythm guitar practice is grounded in accurate theory. Ear training and lead guitar development happen incrementally.
We will also cover tuning and maintenance to keep your instrument in top condition. I enjoy the process of turning technical exercises into genuine musical expression.

Working professionals, absolute beginners, and self-taught players comprise the majority of my students. My Master of Music in Voice from the Royal Northern College of Music informs my overall pedagogical philosophy, even when applied to the fretboard.
I focus on the intersection of theory and practical mechanics. My career spans 13 years of explaining complex musical concepts to various audiences. I enjoy the quiet satisfaction of helping a student finally master a difficult chord transition. Seeing a player gain genuine confidence through careful study is what I find most enjoyable.
