About Shara

What Sets My Tutoring Apart

What makes my tutoring unique is the combination of strong academic support and a fun, creative learning experience. I go beyond worksheets and rote learning to make math and science come alive.

Creative, hands-on learning: Games, visuals, and experiments that make concepts stick
Personalized sessions: Every lesson is tailored to the student’s needs and interests
Confidence-first approach: I help students overcome frustration and build a positive mindset toward math and science
Focus on understanding: Students learn the “why,” not just the “how”
Engaging and supportive environment: Students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to learn

My goal is to help students not only improve their skills, but also develop curiosity and confidence that lasts far beyond our sessions.

About the lesson

Teaching Philosophy & Methods

My teaching approach is student-centered, engaging, and adaptable to each learner’s needs. I focus on building strong foundational skills while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a genuine love of learning. I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities to ensure concepts are both understood and retained.

I prioritize:

Differentiation: Adjusting lessons to match each student’s pace, strengths, and learning style
Active learning: Encouraging participation through discussion, problem-solving, and hands-on activities
Positive reinforcement: Building confidence through encouragement and celebrating progress
Skill-building: Strengthening critical thinking, independence, and study habits alongside academic content
Typical K-6 Lesson Plan Structure

A standard lesson is structured yet flexible, designed to keep students engaged while maximizing learning:

1. Warm-Up (5-10 minutes)
Review of previous material
Quick activity or question to activate prior knowledge
2. Introduction of New Concept (10-15 minutes)
Clear, age-appropriate explanation
Use of visuals, examples, or real-world connections
3. Guided Practice (10-15 minutes)
Working through problems or tasks together
Checking for understanding and adjusting as needed
4. Independent Practice (10-20 minutes)
Student applies the concept independently
Targeted support provided as needed
5. Wrap-Up & Reflection (5-10 minutes)
Review key points
Address questions
Brief assessment or summary activity
Optional Extension/Home Practice
Reinforcement activities tailored to the student
