About Thomas
Thank you for your interest in working with me! I am currently a teaching professor at a university in Pennsylvania. Throughout my mathematics career, I have prioritized teaching, focusing on creating environments where the students feel safe to ask questions and express confusion. While working on my Ph.D. at UCLA and while teaching at my university, I continually receive outstanding evaluations from my students; I also received a teaching award while at UCLA.
I have taught and tutored a wide variety of topics in math for the last 17 years including middle and high school math (all subjects), and undergraduate mathematics topics ranging from college algebra, pre calculus, and calculus to advanced topics in theoretical math.

I have a Ph.D. in mathematics from UCLA. I have been happily teaching math at the university level for 13 years and have been tutoring math for 16 years. When you work with me, you can expect clear and patient explanations about the topic as well as many problem-solving strategies. I delight in going step-by-step through a problem until you understand it. My goal is for you to have a thorough understanding of the topic and to feel comfortable solving problems.
In a typical lesson plan, I will present a problem or two and explain any background facts that you need to know to solve those problems; all the while, I encourage you to ask questions. Then we will go over problems together until you can solve them on your own!
I can tutor almost any topic in undergraduate mathematics. I can also tutor middle and high school math (geometry, algebra, trigonometry, pre calculus, calculus, etc.).
