About Isaac
Mathematics can often feel overwhelming, especially when concepts are presented as formulas to memorize rather than ideas to understand. My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence by developing a strong conceptual foundation and a genuine understanding of the material. I work with high school and first-year calculus students, adapting my teaching style to each individual's learning needs and pace.
I believe that every student is capable of succeeding in mathematics with the right guidance and explanations. By combining clear instruction, patience, and visual tools, I help students understand not only how to solve problems, but also why mathematical concepts work. Whether you're preparing for an exam, struggling with a specific topic, or looking to strengthen your overall understanding, I strive to create a supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged and progress is built step by step.

I focus on building an actual understanding of concepts rather than memorization. Whether a student is studying high school mathematics or first-year calculus, my goal is to help them understand not only how to solve a problem or equation, but also why the underlying principles work.
I use visual learning tools such as Desmos to make mathematical ideas easier to visualize and understand. Through a deeper understanding of functions, graphs, limits, derivatives, and other key concepts, students can see what mathematics is doing rather than simply following a set of steps. This approach helps them develop a strong conceptual foundation that can be built upon as they progress to more advanced topics.
I emphasize mathematical intuition alongside problem-solving techniques, allowing students to approach unfamiliar questions with confidence. By focusing on the connections between concepts rather than isolated formulas, students gain a clearer understanding of the subject as a whole. My lessons are particularly beneficial for students who want to move beyond memorization and develop lasting mathematical skills that will support them throughout their academic journey.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and any questions the student may have from classwork, assignments, or homework. I then introduce new concepts using clear explanations and visual tools help students develop a deep understanding of the material. We work through examples together, focusing not only on how to solve problems but also on why the methods work. The student then practices similar questions independently with guidance as needed, and the lesson concludes with a summary of the key ideas and recommendations for further practice.
