About Charles
I am studying for a MMath at Newcastle university. I have experience tutoring pupils in Year 7 to Year 13; pupils struggling with Numeracy to those taking A Level Further maths (on a personal, one-to-one basis). My degree has taught me proficiency in clear and precise explanation of mathematical ideas - this is not only important for clarifying the tricky proofs ( i.e. further maths A level) but also for giving a solid base in the mathematical fundamentals which see a pupil through GCSEs.

My teaching is heavily based on solving problems. The quickest and (more importantly) surest route to understanding and proficiency is through practice.
I also encourage a visual approach; for both memory and comprehension, visualisation has profound benefits. Teachers at school often neglect this aspect of maths, leaving A-level students at a loss when it comes to applying methods learned in class to problems in the exam.
