About Marta

¡Hola! I’m a fully qualified Spanish teacher from Spain, holding PGCE and QTS status, with over 8 years of teaching experience. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners—from young children (age 6) to adults (65+)—and I specialise in adapting lessons to suit different learning styles, goals, and confidence levels. My teaching style is dynamic, supportive, and highly communicative. I believe languages are meant to be spoken, so I create engaging lessons where students feel comfortable expressing themselves from the very beginning. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, or learning Spanish for travel or personal development, I’ll guide you with clear structure and proven strategies to help you succeed. I also provide continuous support outside of lessons, so you’re never learning alone. My aim is to make Spanish enjoyable, practical, and something you feel confident using in real life. If you're looking for a friendly, motivating, and experienced tutor—you’re in the right place!

I offer lesson packages for students who are ready to commit to their learning journey—these provide better value and help ensure consistent progress over time. **Trial Lesson (30 minutes)** The  session is a relaxed and friendly opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and experience my teaching style. It’s designed to build a strong rapport and set you up for success in future lessons. To make the most of this time, I encourage students who are genuinely interested in progressing with Spanish and finding the right long-term tutor instead of just doing trial lessons with different ones. My aim is to create a supportive learning partnership where you feel confident, motivated, and excited to continue improving :)

  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Spanish fluently as it is my native language—I was born and raised in Madrid, the capital of Spain. I also spent over 10 years living in Seville, in the south, where my mum is from, which gave me a rich exposure to different accents and cultural nuances within Spain.

Later, I moved to England to study my degree in Tourism and Airport Management, and I’ve since built my life and career here. Experiencing language learning myself has given me a deeper understanding of what my students go through.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that represents the culture of the language?

One iconic figure has to be Don Quijote, the famous literary character created by Miguel de Cervantes. What makes this even more special to me is that Cervantes was from Alcalá de Henares—the same historic city where I was born!
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour you particularly like?

I love Spanish expressions that include the word “leche”—there are so many of them, and they can express everything from surprise to frustration in a very colourful way!

I’m also a big fan of the “tardeo” tradition. This is a very Spanish social habit where people meet in the late afternoon (rather than late at night) to enjoy drinks, tapas, and good company. It’s a more relaxed and social way of going out, and it really reflects the importance of community and lifestyle in Spanish culture.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world—it’s actually the second most spoken language by native speakers globally. In recent years, it has become even more popular worldwide, partly thanks to the global influence of artists like Bad Bunny and the rise of Spanish-language music and media.

For me, Spanish is not just a language—it’s a gateway to multiple cultures, countries, and ways of life. Being able to speak it opens doors both personally and professionally.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process?

One of the main challenges when learning Spanish is grammar, especially depending on your native language. Concepts like verb conjugations can feel complex at first.

Another difficulty is the speed at which native speakers talk! Spanish can sound very fast, which can be intimidating for learners.

These challenges become much more manageable
with structure, spaced repetition and plenty of exposure to the language. Be patient and trust yourself and the process!
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

One of my favourite moments as a teacher was when a student proudly told me they had eaten “bruja de arena” instead of “a sandwich”!

I don’t know if it was on purpose (witty) or had mixed up the words—“bruja” means “witch,” so they essentially said they ate a “sand witch,” which made us both laugh a lot. We use the word sandwich as well for two pieces of bread and something in between.
  • 7) How has travel helped you improve your understanding of language?

Moving to England was a key moment in my journey. Before arriving, I had studied English with private tutors, so I experienced firsthand what it’s like to learn a language step by step.

Later, during my PGCE, I deepened my understanding of teaching methods and pedagogy. Combining my personal experience as a language learner with my professional training allows me to truly empathise with my students and support them effectively.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

My experience, methodology, patience and sense of humor I’d say. I’ve taught students from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and ability levels, and I know how to adapt my approach to suit each individual.

Having worked in secondary schools in England, I also understand the curriculum and exam requirements (GCSE and A-Level), which helps my students achieve strong results.

Looking forward to meeting you in class! ¡Hasta pronto!
