About Marité
French is my native language (I was born and raised in Belgium). A fun fact about me: I won a national dictation contest aged 11. I am still very good at spelling today so my family and friends regularly ask me to proofread their cover letters/essays/dissertations. I studied law at the Université Saint-Louis - Brussels and then at the UCL (magna cum laude). I practised as an immigration and family lawyer at the Brussels Bar for 3 and a half years. I have been tutoring university students in law for almost a year. Having just moved to the UK, I am now doing something totally different: I am a Café Assistant and a Cheesemonger (you never know where life will take you!).

We'll start by discussing your level, needs and objectives so that our lessons can be tailored to you. Our classes will take the form of a discussion rather than a lecture--we're not in a classroom, the goal is to practice practice practice and have fun! Do you have favourite books, songs or topics? Perfect, we'll use them as our material (if necessary, we can also use a guide you already have). My goal is for you to talk a lot, never be afraid to make mistakes or asks questions, and to leave our classes feeling confident and relaxed about your French. That's why I'd love for us to meet in a coffee place or a park (if the weather allows it) to immerse ourselves in a laid-back atmosphere.
