About Laurence

I am a native French speaker and a highly experienced Spanish and French teacher, having taught these through to A-level in both the State and Independent sector with a proven record of outstanding results at GCSE and A-level. In my 25-year teaching career – half of that as Head of Spanish in a leading Grammar school in Buckinghamshire – I have twice been personally commended by Ofsted with my lessons graded outstanding and subsequently selected to deliver training courses on raising standards and improving grades in teaching. I have thousands of hours' experience tutoring Spanish and French to students at pre-GCSE, GCSE, A-Level and beyond. All of my tutees have achieved excellent examination results, every single one obtaining a grade higher than predicted, often more. I am a very enthusiastic, dynamic and passionate tutor whose main motivation is to help and guide my students through the process of learning a language and encourage them to reach their goals whilst enjoying the journey.

About the lesson

I provide a positive and safe environment where each lesson is entirely based on the needs and goals of the individual student. School and examination pressures are continuously rising and taking their toll on students’ confidence and mental health therefore my number one priority is to boost my students’ confidence in a relaxed, supportive and fun learning space where they can reach their full potential. I offer modern, innovative and engaging teaching material and encourage my students to be active participants in their own learning.

Laurence helped our daughter prepare for A-Level French and we feel so grateful she did. Our daughter, who was predicted a B, achieved an A* in her A-Level. Laurence was always well-organised, conscientious and a very kind person. She encouraged and inspired our daughter with her enthusiasm and her lessons sounded fun. We would rate Laurence 100% as a French teacher, especially with someone who is struggling to learn

I would highly recommend Laurence. She listens to the needs of the students to adapt her teaching approach and she is passionate about making a difference in the student’s academic life which has an impact on his/her self-confidence in general. She also has a perfect knowledge of the language (French and Spanish) and the exams preparation expertise. As a native and inquisitive person, she likes to share her passion about the culture of the country. No doubt she is an excellent tutor who has the interest of the learner at heart.
