About Keiko
こんにちは！I’m Keiko, a native Japanese speaker who grew up in Tokyo speaking standard Japanese—with no regional accent. I’ve always loved the beauty of the language, and growing up, I was especially inspired by anime and manga, which sparked my lifelong interest in communication and culture. I later moved to the U.S., earned a college degree, and built a career as a graphic designer. Today, I split my time between Japan and the U.S., which gives me a unique perspective and the ability to support students in both English and Japanese. I’m passionate about helping learners sound more natural in Japanese—whether that means improving pronunciation, refining intonation, or practicing the right phrasing for everyday conversation. My lessons are friendly, supportive, and tailored to your pace and goals. As a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo fluent in English, I offer casual and supportive lessons to help you reduce your accent and sound more natural when speaking Japanese.
By “accent reduction,” I focus on helping you:
• Correct pronunciation of sounds that are difficult for non-native speakers
• Use natural intonation and rhythm
• Learn the right way to say common phrases so they sound native and clear
My approach is friendly and simple:
• We practice through listening, repeating, and casual conversation
• I provide gentle corrections and English explanations when needed
• Lessons are personalized to your level and pace
A typical lesson might include:
1. Reading or speaking short sentences out loud
2. Practicing specific sounds, words, or phrases
3. Repeating with natural tone and rhythm
4. Light conversation using what we practiced
