About Joanna
I am studying neuroscience at UBC and finished the IB diploma program 2 years ago. Though I love to teach math, I'm also welcome to any students who want help with the violin as I won second place in national violin competitions in both Korea and Toronto. I also scored the highest in my high school for the Waterloo Math contests so I can help with math contest preparation if needed as well.
I have spent a lot of time studying math and know the best way to understand concepts and apply them to various problems. My 4 years of experience range from teaching elementary students to high school students and I'm great at making individual lesson plans with homework!

The method I use to teach is based on the way I studied in both Korea and Canada to get the highest scores. It is the best way to learn new concepts in math and use them to solve any problem given.
I first explain to students the big picture of a concept or a simple story that uses it to help them first understand what they are going to learn. Then, I teach the basics of that lesson slowly, while solving problems along the way to help them get the idea. Worksheets will be sent out as homework and another class will be on questions from homework.
Violin lessons will be done in person, varying on the level of the student.
