About Margaret
I graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics with a minor in literature. I am currently pursuing my master's in international finance at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). I have worked as a tutor for over 10 years in the New York City area and am well-versed in all college entrance exams (ACT/SAT/SAT subject tests). I have also worked as a teaching assistant during my time at Columbia and a writing tutor in the University's writing center. I am also fluent in reading and writing latin, and have over 6 years experience tutoring in that subject. I also work with high school students on their college entrance essays, as well as history, math, and english coursework.

Students deserve to be a part of their own learning process. With that in mind, I like to continually pause my lesson plans to ask my students to briefly (and succinctly) explain the concepts I have just been teaching them. Students often sit and nod their head while being lectured without truly understanding the material being taught. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions--the more the better--and I feel that teaching this way creates an environment where they feel free to do so.
